Getting to Antipaxos

Antipaxos can be reached by ferry from Parga or Corfu Island. We lucked out great as the first ferry was leaving on our last day of our Parga holiday. The tour includes Antipaxos, the Blue Caves and Paxos.

If you are staying on Paxos, you can use the water taxis that leave from Gaios usually every hour. The journey takes about 15 minutes.

Curious about the island

The legend of Antipaxos?

  • According to Greek legends, Paxos and all the tiny islands around it were created when Poseidon sliced a small piece of Corfu with his trident to create a cozy place for himself and his wife Amfriti.

Does anyone live on Antipaxos?

  • It was originally inhabited by the Suliots , a population famous for their valiant resistance against the Ottoman Empire, but after their defeat in 1803 the Suliots left the island and moved to other parts of Greece.
  • It is now almost uninhabited and completely intact, with absolutely no signs of modern life. The island has a small harbour called Agrapidia, where a network of narrow paths starting from the harbour reach the interior of the island, passing through villas with orchards and vegetable gardens. The island is covered with vineyards that belong to the locals and produce a rich red wine with a good taste, famous on the island of Paxi.
